Grim, Jakub ; Kubát, Michal (advisor) ; Váška, Jan (referee)
8 The thesis, utilizing qualitative content analysis, examines five Slovak political parties and movements within the European People's Party (EPP). The analytical part, employing a comparative method, juxtaposes the EPP program with those of KDH, SDKÚ-DS, SMK- MKS, Most-Híd, and OĽaNO. The aim is to determine whether their inclusion in the EPP aligns with their respective programs. The concept of party families is also employed in the thesis, as the EPP represents the Christian Democratic party family in the European Parliament.
Štefan Polakovič and Slovak Political Catholicism
Lenčéšová, Michaela ; Kopeček, Michal (advisor) ; Šmíd, Marek (referee) ; Šebek, Jaroslav (referee)
The dissertation explores the political thinking of the Catholic philosopher Štefan Polakovič (1912-1999), who is considered one of the main ideologists of Jozef Tiso's politics during the Slovak state (1939-1945). In the context of the political struggle between President Tiso and Prime Minister Vojtech Tuka, Polakovič participated in the Nazification of Slovak Catholic political thinking by creating Slovak and Catholic concepts inspired by the ideology of the German National Socialists. After the Second World War, from Argentina, he tried to achieve the restoration of the Slovak state and in the 1990s he was one of the apologists of Jozef Tiso's politics and a supporter of the idea of the anti-fascist Catholic resistance in the milieu of the Hlinka Slovak People's Party. The main aim of this dissertation is to investigate, what were the main reasons for Polakovič's fascism and why he considered the nation-state as the only acceptable form of statehood for the Slovak nation. Although the dissertation concentrates mainly on Polakovic's thinking during the Slovak state period, it also pays attention to Polakovič's thinking during Argentine emigration in an attempt to reflect the development of his thinking throughout the twentieth century. First, this dissertation describes the birth and history of...
Reasons for the migration from the south to the north of Italy and its consequences
Prošková, Petra ; Mejstřík, Martin (advisor) ; Lukešová, Anna (referee)
Migration within Italy began on a larger scale already after the Second World War, and in the following decades it resulted in the imaginary division of the state into an economically strong north and a weaker south. The issue was emphasised by the specific approach of the ruling Christian Democracy party, which was the key to the development of Italy in the second half of the twentieth century. Although it strove for the restoration and modernization of the southern regions, due to the inefficiency of redistribution of finances, corruption and the influence of the mafia, the necessary restructuring and restoration did not take place. For this reason, the issue of internal migration gradually intensified and normalized. Motives for mthe migration were in most cases of an economic nature, as it was mostly about job opportunities or higher wages, which were much more available in the north. This trend naturally caused many problems in connection with society, demography, economy, etc

Štamberk, Ondřej ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Stauber, Jakub (referee)
The diploma thesis focuses on the application of selected classical theoretical concepts on the example of the Christian Democratic Union - Czechoslovak People's Party to assess the extent to which these concepts are relevant in today's political science research. Theoretical concepts are introduced in the first chapter of the theoretical part. The second chapter offers a summary of the historical development of Christian Democrats from their foundation to the last parliamentary elections in 2021. In the practical part, the theories are applied to the KDU-ČSL, and the following chapter further introduces and analyzes electoral results of the party during the existence of the Czech Republic, as well as its electorate. The aim is to find characteristic patterns that are unique in the case of KDU-ČSL compared to other Czech political parties and to answer why this is the case and what consequences for further development it has for this party. As a result, I managed to apply all the theories presented and come up with new points and characteristics concerning the development of election results and the KDU-ČSL voter base. Kugler, Pavel ; Pokorná, Magdaléna (advisor)
Christian democracy in Central European countries which found themselves under the influence of the Soviet Union was not given the oppurtnity to play an important role in the development of the region in a way which was achieved by the Christian democrtas after 1945 in the Western part of Europe. A fundamental role in this procress was assumed by external conditions, and interventions from the outside became the decesive factor. Nevertheless, despite the relatively short period of tihe lasting in fact only two years, both identical traits and differences clearly manifested themselves in the understanding of what guidig idea of a party whith this programme delimitation should be. Christian democratic political parties in Lutheran "Baltoscandia": a comparison in light of the secularization thesis
Hejzlar, Štěpán ; Mlejnek, Josef (advisor) ; Kučera, Rudolf (referee)
The submitted diploma thesis deals with Christian Democratic political parties in the political systems of Scandinavian and Baltic countries of Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Estonia and Latvia. These parties form a unique "Nordic" branch of European political Protestantism; and structurally and functionally distinctive, but to a great degree homogenous, subgroup of Christian democracy. A major theoretical tradition to be applied is the Rokkanian party system analysis. Contrary to its counterparts on the continent, the Nordic branch grew not from a church-based defence stance against a secular state, but from both territorial and religious dissent on the periphery. The "cultural periphery" analysis relies heavily on history and geography of religion of the Nordic countries. However, other theoretical perspectives are taken as well in order to compare different aspects of the parties' affiliations and policies, such as their cabinet policies, ideology or EC/EU attitudes. In another chapter, possibilities and limits of Christian democracy in the Lutheran environment of Latvia and Estonia are examined. Is Scandinavian experience portable? Or are there other ways of Christian political mobilization used in the public spheres of the two Baltic countries? A similar theoretical framework is applied,...
